Till now anyone was able to use Facebook’s Messenger with a Facebook account or without. Users were able to create accounts on Messenger using their phone numbers. Now, in the company’s help center states that you cannot use Messenger without a Facebook account.
Company says that those who already use Messenger without Facebook account can keep using it as it is, but those who are new users now have to create a Facebook account first in order to use their Messenger.
