Motorola debuts Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Chipset

We have the first phone to officially use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Motorola is the first company to host the latest and greatest chip, just over a week after its first announcement.

Motorola Edge X30 is the first phone to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The company released two versions. The X30 and X30 Special Edition. Another shocker was the news from Realme with the launch of Realme GT 2 Pro in the same day as Motorola.

Xiaomi is right behind Motorola. Xiaomi 12 is set to debut later this month as well.

The X30 version has a 6.7 inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. A 50MP main camera with OmniVision’s OV50A 1/1.55 inch sensor is a real treat as well. It has a 2.0μm sized pixels when 4in1 binning is applied.

There is a 50MP ultrawide shooter while the third sensor is 2MP depth of field module. The phone is able to record up to 4K video natively.

The device is powered with 5,000 mAh batter with 69W wired charging support. And it is run by Android 12.

The only difference between the two models is the under-display selfie camera. The rest of the specs are pretty much identical.
