We live most of our lives on the internet. In our country in particular, the rate of social media use by population is more than double that of many countries. What we write here, the photos we share, the stories, in a sense, can be considered a digital legacy. What if we die, what happens to our social media account?

Facebook and Google offer you the ability to inherit your account; you can choose the person who will manage your account after death. Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat do not have any inheritance. Unused accounts either close for 6 months of inactivity or are deactivated if a family member contacts these institutions. To inherit one of your accounts on Facebook and Google, you must set up your heir.

Facebook has the potential to become the world’s largest digital cemetery. Can you imagine the dump on these platforms over the next 10 years ?
