Xiaomi Redmi K50 Series Update

We are hearing a lot of buzz about the Redmi K50 Series. The latest tip is that it is scheduled to be launched in February 2022. The launch date should be taken with a grain of salt, just because it doesn’t come from official sources. Yet again the reliable tipster known as Digital Chat Station is the first one making these claims.

The interesting twist in this story is that the Redmi K40 lineup was also released during the same period this year. It comes as a no surprise that the K50 series will consist of four (maybe five) models: K50K50 ProK50 Pro+K50 Gaming and K50 Gaming Pro.

This article is not about the K50 Gaming Pro. Supposedly, that model will actually be released in April 2022.

Design

The Redmi K50 Series will feature a high-quality curved edge display. The incoming reports are also buzzing about an in-display fingerprint scanner. It seems like the K50 series models, will all get a fingerprint scanner, something their predecessors were missing.

This impressive lineup will get E5 LTPO displays. But, there are indications that some of the models will be equipped with QHD+ displays. Specifics as to which model gets what display are still unknown.

The complete K50 Series will be backed by the IP68 international standard. The devices are deemed fit enough to withstand dust, dirt and sand. They are also resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m underwater for 30 minutes.

Chipset

The vanilla Xiaomi Redmi K50 model will host the MediaTek Dimensity 7000 chipset. The K50 Pro will have the Snapdragon 870, and K50 Pro+ could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Getn 1SoC.

On the other side, the Redmi K50 Gaming will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7000, and K50 Gaming Pro will feature the new Dimensity 9000 chip series. The only issue we know as of now, is that these gaming smartphone might be exclusive to the China market only. But there is still time, before we know for sure.

Camera

Now let’s focus on the camera setup. The Redmi K50 is expected to host a 48 Megapixel camera. Some leaks are telling us that a 108 Megapixel primary sensor is also a possibility. The Pro version will get a 50 MP camera and 108-megapixel camera on the Redmi K50 Pro+.

Battery

For the K50, K50 Pro and K50 Pro+ models we know it will have a 4520 mAh battery. If you use the phone for playing games, listening to music or even watching movies. A 4520 mAh battery is quite decent, and you should not worry about draining the battery. The Redmi K50 Gaming is rumored to ship with a more powerful 5,000 mAh battery.

The leak reveals that Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro will go as 100W fast charging. On the other side the K50 Pro+ model will feature 120W fast charging.

OS

Current indicators are telling us that the complete K50 Series are going to be running under MIUI 13 out of the box.

Xiaomi Redmi K50 is a worthy successor to the Redmi K40 models. This is all we know for now. There is still some time before we see these device hit the market. At the moment all we have are a few specifications of the phones thanks to the leaker and the certifications.
