The Design

Oppo Find X5 Pro comes with a gorgeous design, that we have already seen in so many leaked renders. The look and feel of this model is really premium, there is no doubt about that. This is a 6.7 inch smartphone which in terms of size, is pretty much like every other smartphone. The size of the phone is set to be a pleasingly comfortable to hold, as a result of the rounded corners and edges of the device.

There are very small bezels surrounding the display, which gives it a nice esthetic look on the front, and covered with high quality and lovely ceramic visual on the back. This series is completely constructed from a single piece of ceramic which is also referred as unibody design.

Oppo states that this is a futuristic design. And although there are some minor notes of a sci-fi look and feel to it, there is nothing really out of the ordinary going on. But, the overall conclusion is that it does stand out from its peers.

In terms of colors, you can choose from two. You have ceramic white or glaze black. Whatever model you go with, it should be scratch proof, shatterproof, water and dust resistant. And on the front you have a Gorilla Glass Invictus Display that comes with a pre-installed screen protector.

The OS

This model comes with ColorOS 12.1 out of the box. It is based on Android 12. The only difference between version 12.0 and 12.1 is the refined aesthetics, improved privacy and security features. Other than that, ColorOS rolls out its new Multi-Screen Connect feature. Users will be happy with this upgrade since it will allow to seamlessly switch between the phone and your Windows PC.

If you have used an Android smartphone before, then you know know what to expect. In addition to the basic features, the personalization section is really good if you want to customize the look and feel of the system.

ColorOS is quite powerful and exciting. We will not dig deep into it anymore, but rather create maybe a brand new post describing all the possibilities of this OS.

Oppo managed to fit a larger battery inside the X5 Pro. When we say larger, we mean a 5,000 mAh which is an improvement over 4,500 mAh. Since this is a premium smartphone the charging speeds are also improved with or without wires. The phone can be charged from 0-50% within 12 minutes. And in contrast the wireless charging usually finish within 47 minutes.

Oppo Find X5 Pro also comes with Battery Health Engine. It is there to make sure that it prolongs the battery’s longevity. It should survive 1600 charge cycles before it degrades to 80% capacity.

Everything regarding the battery is very impressive indeed.

We are going to finish this article on Oppo Find X5 Pro by looking at the camera tech. The primary camera hosts a 50 MP sensor. But it also has a 50 MP ultra wide angle shooter, and a 13 MP telephoto lens.

The primary camera is created with a glass lens to reduce halo effects, and Oppo has also designed the camera with five axis optical image stabilization. The camera itself is powered by Oppo’s MariSilicon X chip which accounts for much of the improvements. It runs AI noise reduction and other image processing tasks. It is a dedicated image processor which sits separate to the Snapdragon SoC.

For this flagship device, Oppo has partnered with Hasselblad, a company that specializes in optics. This partnership clearly has an impact on the camera, but it also has helped Oppo to develop the Pro mode as well.

You can shoot in RAW or RAW+ format, by adjusting various settings on the camera. But, you can also use the Auto mode, which will produce stunning photos as well. Bottom line is that the colors on the pictures are impressively lifelike, just like what you would see with the naked eye.

Portrait photos always come up really nice which is pretty much usual when taking the picture with an Oppo flagship phones. And when you switch to the 50 megapixel ultra wide angle shooter, you don’t see any degradation in the colors. All color tones appear perfectly natural.

Oppo Find X5 Pro is absolutely amazing for low-light shots. And it is all thanks to the image stabilization feature. The phone software comes equipped with tons of more modes. Like for example a High-Res mode which uses the maximum capabilities of that 50 MP camera. And as a feature from Hasselblad there is an X-Pan mode that shoots in a vintage style with 65 x 24 aspect ratio.

If you want to change in video mode, you can shoot up to 4k resolution footage at 30 or 60 frames per second.

At the front there is a 32 megapixel selfie shooter, which does the job absolutely perfectly. The selfie cam can shoot up to Full HD Resolution. But, unfortunately, there is no 4k option available.
