In June, Samsung created three different update categories for its smart devices. The South Korean tech giant has announced it will bring quarterly updates to its other phones while giving monthly updates to its latest phones based on the new system.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were excluded from these lists and their 3-month update support was cut, but apparently the devices were re-listed and Samsung released the August security package for these models. It is also thought that Samsung accidentally removed these devices from the list, although there was no official statement.
According to Samsung’s security bulletin, the August security package includes Google’s patch for seven critical and many high-risk Android vulnerabilities and 17 new fixes for Galaxy-specific threats.
August security patch for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is now being distributed in France, Poland, the UK, Belgium, Austria, Ireland, Portugal, Greece, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Croatia, Italy, Germany, Spain and several other regions.
